A driver on an Australian highway experienced a spooky moment that made him “absolutely sick.”

As his car cruised down a dark four lane highway in New South Wales, he thought he saw a child standing out in the middle of the fast lane.

Mitch Kuhne was relieved that he did not hit the object – whatever it was.

Still, the figure he saw was so vivid and looked so much like a child, Kuhne decided to call the police and report what he saw.

Sure enough, his dashcam footage did reveal that something was in the road when Kuhne drove by.

Trying to make out the object is difficult. It does appear to be the size of a small child.

The scary footage has some viewers speculating the figure could be a ghost.

But there’s more weirdness to this story.

It gets stranger

After watching his dash cam footage, Kuhne called the police and he says the police told him the child has been picked up and is now safe.

But when Yahoo News contacted the police department in NSW, their story goes like this: they conducted a search of the area and did not find any trace of a child.
