Little Boy Sneaks into Mom’s Amazon Account – Wait till You See What He Ordered (the bill was $2,600)

August 2, 2021 U.S. News Humans

Do you love SpongeBob? Even if you do, I bet you cannot outdo Noah Ruiz, a 4-year old from Brooklyn, New York.

This little one is so obsessed with the yellow-porous cartoon character that he decided to have an Amazon spree. Using his mother’s laptop, Noah ordered 51 cases of Spongebob Ice-lollies! Little did his mother, Jennifer Bryant knew that she was going to pay for 918 lollies that cost her $2618.85!

Jennifer told CNN that Noah has autism and he uses her laptop for remote learning. That day while Jennifer was busy in another room, Noah navigated to the Amazon Prime account she shares with her sister and ordered the popsicles without telling her.

Three huge boxes, each weighing 70 pounds and requiring immediate freezing, arrived at Noah’s aunt’s house with quite the bill.

Amazon initially told Jennifer that the popsicles were non-refundable because they came from a third-party vendor.

For Jennifer, a full-time student at NYU and mother of 3 boys, paying this huge bill was simply not doable. She had no idea how to pay for her son’s innocent order.

But fortunately, the Spongebob case has a happy ending.

Just after the incident, Jennifer made a post to an NYU student Facebook page asking for donations. Katie Schloss, a fellow student and friend, saw the post and set up a GoFundMe account to help pay off the expense.

Guess what? Within 24 hours, the entire cost of the popsicles was raised and the account managed to get $7,300 in just three days — surpassing the original $2,618.85 target.

In an updated note to the GoFundMe post, Jennifer wrote, “We’re so grateful to have made back the $2,618.85 in a mere 24 hours! As a parent to a child living with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), all additional donations will go towards Noah’s education and additional supports. We cannot thank you enough. Truly.”
