What a way to go.
So a man in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Spain was found dead inside a paper mache replica of a stegosaurus.
The photo above is from Google maps, so it’s hard to see how this guy got into the statue. The mouth hole doesn’t look big enough. Maybe there’s a hole in the belly that’s not visible?
Anyhow, the poor guy ended up sliding head first down into one of the dinosaur legs.
The police think he was trying to retrieve a cell phone that somehow fell down into the dinosaur statue.
It appears a combination of factors led to this 39 year old to tragically die like this:
- The stature, although paper mache, was well made and hard a rock.
- He may have been too attached to his cell phone. He obviously went to great lengths to try to get it out.
- That corner of the neighborhood doesn’t look particularly busy. But that’s judging by Google Earth’s photo and may not be accurate.
- No one could hear the poor guy screaming for help.
- Being upside down with no water would be rough for anyone after a few hours.
- He was only reported missing a few hours before being found, which is tragic as the police estimate the man was inside the leg for at least 48 hours.
A father and son somehow noticed something inside the stegosaurus statue, but it was too late.
Police are not treating the death as a suspicious case.
