This Bloke Just Broke an Impressive Record Using M&Ms

June 29, 2021 Food

Some records are not hard to beat. Or, at least they look easy at first.

When you first hear that the world record for vertically stacking M&M candies is 5 – that doesn’t sound too impressive at first.

Until you try it.

A British civil engineer claims to have set the new record at five, beating the previous record of four M&Ms.

His name is Will Cutbill, and he lives in the English town of Solihull.

“When I tell ’em it’s a whopping 5, they’re shocked,” Cutbill told CNN. “They want to give it a go, try and beat me.”

Cutbill said he came up with the idea to break the record while munching on the chocolates during UK’s third COVID-19 lockdown.

“At first it wasn’t very many until one day I thought right let’s crack this, so I sat down very determined to complete it.” he said.

Cutbill has the video to prove his accomplishment:

Cutbill told CNN it took hundreds of failed attempts before stacking the five M&M’s a couple of hours later.

When the task was completed, Cutbill said he had achieved his lifelong dream of breaking a Guinness World Records title.

“I’ve always wanted one. I’ve bought the books every year and have always dreamed of one day reading my name in it,” Cutbill said.

He also celebrated the feat by eating his record breaking stack.

The last record of four stacked M&M’s was held by Silvio Sabba, of Italy, and Brendan Kelbi, of Australia.

Looks like regular M&Ms are required for stacking. Peanut M&Ms look pretty unstackable – but highly edible.
