When a dog runs away, the return home is normally not this, uh, human-like.
Get this – Rajah, an 18 month old dog in South Carolina, took off from her family’s back yard after getting spooked by nearby fireworks. She’s a fast running dog, according to Mary Lynn Whitacre (the dog’s owner.) She and her husband were horrified for the next seven hours, as they could not find Rajah anywhere and eventually went to bed.
Now here’s the unbelievable part – at 3 a.m. Rajah returns home, walks up to the front door and rings the doorbell with her nose.
Not a joke – they have the evidence of this from their surveillance camera video footage.

How did this dog know how to ring the doorbell?
Whitacre explained that she has no idea where Rajah learned how to do this. She said she and her husband hardly ever have to use their own doorbell, so she’s not sure when the dog would’ve seen somebody press it.
Since Whitacre works from home and the dog spends the day with her, she probably hasn’t seen anyone use the doorbell through the window, Whitacre said.

Pretty incredible – that’s a borderline miracle, in my book.
The good news is this story has a happy ending.
“She had thorns on her and seemed to have rolled in poop,” Whitacre explained to Southwest News Service (SWNS). “So, it seems like she had a great time.”
Apparently, the 18-month-old puppy thought she might have done something wrong, based on her behavior when she got home.
Whitacre said, “She thought she was in so much trouble and she was sad and sulking, but we were like ‘we’re just happy you’re back.’ It was hilarious, and we couldn’t stop laughing.”

Rajah sounds like a pretty smart pooch.
And the owners sound like they truly love this dog. In the Fox News report, Whitacre said she and her husband will be spending Independence Day at her parents lake house, which will include other family members with their dogs, so they think Rajah will be too busy playing to get upset about the fireworks.
